I'll post a recap tomorrow but its been a really good trip! Hiking, cooking, radio work, bushcraft projects, fires, looking for Bigfoot, and more! In the meantime, I need more coffee!

Home and exhausted!

Son and I had a great time!

After getting to camp after dinner time Friday evening we got the boys squared away and all the gear organized. First chore for the kids was getting a fire going for making campfire treats. The boys love "smacos" which is a Smores but made in a flour tortilla shell wrapped in tin foil and placed on hot coals or elevated heat.

After snacks was one of my infamous night hikes. Kids always get a kick out of looking through NVG's and making Bigfoot calls in the woods. Its usually a 2 mile hike but this group was a little tired so we cut it a little short but not before putting out some solid wood knocks and howls that echoed through the river valley we were in!

Saturday started with breakfast cooked by the boys, pancakes and sausage!

After breakfast we decided that instead of splitting into dens that we would stay as the group but work on different things.

We usually invite siblings and parents out for the day on saturdays so that they can see what we do and to participate as well. It always goes over really well!

Younger scouts and siblings on one of the river crossings!

Kids learned to build fire reflectors...

They even got to enjoy some quiet time!

To finish off parents and siblings visiting for the day we treated them to pulled pork and mac n' cheese for dinner.

Once we were back to dads and the boys we made strawberry cobbler, it was raining good at this point so the Russian Rain Cape got put to use, and we finish the night teaching tightening and hitching knots.

This morning was a quick breakfast and cleaning up to head home. I'm always exhausted after these weekends but the results are always well worth it! Thanks for following along gang!

Looks awesome. Is there a tree stand in two pics? One pic looks like there may be one all the way to the right? Then the pic under it looks like a large dark grey square thing just right of center, a roos the river. Is that one too?aybe a covered stand?

These posts are awesome Jay, thanks for posting them and for investing in the next generation!
Rockn it Jay.
Our future generations will depend on what you and people like you do.
Thanks guys! I've said it before, in fact to a few of you in person, that my ultimate hope in these endeavours (through Scouts, my YouTube channel, and my other work) is to inspire others to take up the cause, even if its one person I can get to do it, then I've personally succeeded. This is part of my "hearts and minds" battle that I fight and this is one avenue I've chosen to do so...
Wait I got it. Almost dead center of pic, across the river just to the right of where the river takes a hard right
That it! Good size blind too. The area is really perfect for how game would funnel down the river and walk right into it.
Looks like a great place to camp with the young ones. I love early spring after the snow melts and before things green up. You get to see the woods in a way that no other season allows. ( i've still got awhile for that lol )
I agree! It's very surreal in a way expericing the forest right before it gives birth to new life, humbling in a way.

So quick story from last night before dinner!

Everyone is seated in the cabin and I ask if anyone wants to lead us in prayer. 3 boys raise their hands and one of them leads us in Grace (we're all Catholic here). After Grace one father, who has been with us from the beginning, says "I'm proud to be apart of a group where we have children who will argue with each other to see who gets the honor to lead us in Grace!" Everyone agreed to that sentiment! That's making a difference!
