Wifi extenders

I avoided extenders by relocating the Node. If I had only One particular site that required help, I would get a better antenna for that location. CCrane radio sells several different antennas that do the job.

For Neighborhood HOA Meetings (PTUI) I hook up my CCrane Super WiFi antenna to my laptop, and it reaches from the Neighbors' Houses that are near. Just have to ask for access to a Window that faces My House, some Thirty Yards away... (My House sits atop a hillock, and has a great (field of fire) view of most of the Thirteen Houses of our little Neighborhood.)

Well generally speaking it's just a little box you set up to bounce your wifi signals. So, you'd manage it most likely from the same way you contact your wifi router (mine is online). The specs will tell you how far it'll send signal and be aware that solid structures will impact the signal strength. We put one in the first floor of the beach house, to be able to send signal a short distance away to pool house. Streamed tv off that connection, with a Roku box.

I should think about digging it out of a box and seeing if I can do the same thing out to the studio.

I need one n know nothing about them. Can one of y'all recommend something? I don't even have enough knowledge to know what questions to ask. Technologies are frustrating to simple minds.
What do you need it for? Do you want to continue the same SSID (Wi-Fi network) or do you want it to appear as a separate network? How much square footage do you need to cover?

It's inside the house, I have limited to no connectivity in the shop 40 feet away. Outside, I lose it about 100' away. I would like full shop coverage, as well as being able to add two wireless cameras about 300' from the house.

If you are getting no connectivity in the shop that’s gonna be difficult. Any Chance you have conduit from the house to the shop? I had a similar scenario for a client. They had a pole bar about that distance from the house. There was existing conduit so we ran an Ethernet cable and broadcasted that signal with an extender in the barn.

The next best option is hoping the extender can pick up the wireless signal from your shop. If it can than that changes things. I would download some sort of Wi-Fi analyzer on your phone and see how strong of a signal you are getting

Is your shop a steel building? I fought to get wifi extended into a steel bldg.

I had to match the wifi extender to the router, make sure they were compatible. Since the range is so close, you shouldn't need an extender but if you are, signal is likely getting blocked by the shop construction. When you do get your extender, mount it outside (make sure it is weatherproof or weather resistant) right outside a window into the shop. That will make it much easier for the signal to get into the shop since you are having trouble.

I built a little redneck awning to protect the extender... If you have a protected place to put the extender, you can save yourself some rednecking.

I wasn't ready to put it up yet, but there is nothing but a little labor to erect my ham tower. I wonder if I would get better results by putting it up there? I've got 7 sections, so it will be about 40ish feet tall.

Now we have to wait for someone who really understands that stuff to respond... I told you everything I understood about it, which was discovered by duct taping the blasted extender around in different places and then running inside to see if the computer had wifi signal until I found one that worked... I may not be real good with this stuff, but I'm too blamed hard-headed to quit. :p
