My research leads me to believe it happens in about a week. Some places much faster as evidenced by flash frozen large mammals with stomach contents"fresh", which wouldn't happen with a slow freeze. Something like -100 and 200+mph wins to freeze something that dense that fast where the stomach contents are fresh.

I remember when you could buy freeze dried Mammoth meat for a $1.59 a pound.
Now it's like $12.00 a pound. Almost as bad as Spam.

This is/was my first winter in the Sierras. Winter here was amazing.
I can count on two hands the number of days it didn't hit 50F.

Frozen ice core sample from Greenland retrieved by the U.S. Army in 1966 has been rediscovered.
They found evidence of plant life in it from way back when. So obviously Greenland melts without human help. Shocking!
