Ok guys, i have a husqvarna weed trimmer. 2cycle. It starts but wont run. Sometimes i can get it to run for a few mins. Then starts losing power and its done. Usually when i start it it will only idle for a second or two. If i give it throttle, i have to feather it but still just peeters out.

I just replaced the carberator and its doing exactly the same thing. It seems to be getting fuel. I just put fresh fuel in it. Spark plug seems clean and fine.

Ideas?

First: Clean, Fresh No Ethanol Fuel? [EDIT]: Since You replaced the Carb, I gotta ask - same/correct one? Fixed Jets, or Owner adjustable? High Speed Jet may be plugged? Fuel lines all perfect, no cracks, correctly attached/run? Zero trash, sand, Water in Fuel tank? Fuel Cap vent works? (Loosen cap to check, but keep upright so no leak/fire during test)!!!

Sounds like it might be trying to seize.

Two causes are most common: failed (even one time) to mix oil and gas properly. I will assume that is not it.

Second cause: Heat! Have you checked and blown out all the grass, weeds, etc from the cooling fins, and the flywheel fan?

Tertiary cause that pretty rarely causes something similar- Exhaust is restricted by crud that has accumulated. Cause of this is too much oil in the mix - Two-Strokes need CORRECT FUEL/OIL MIX, and use Two-Stroke Oils! And too much light throttle! Two Strokes like to be WFO, doing work, not idling (or just off Idle). Do not use trash oil, crankcase drainings, wrong oils!!! Two Stroke oil is engineered carefully to: have low Ash, not reduce the octane so much, lubricate (natch), stay mixed more completely, and more! So, to fix this, ya gotta remove Spark arrestor, and burn out/dig out all the gunk.

Finally, worth a check every time you have problems: Two Strokes really like Clean, Sharp electrodes, correct Gap, correct heatrange Sparkplugs. Years ago, Family had and raced Three-Cylinder, Two-Stroke, SAABs. The joke was: "How can You tell a SAAB Racer? Ans: He's the One with Six Sparkplugs in His Pocket!". Check that Gap, even if Brand New, out of the Box! Especially with magneto ignition - not a lot of spare energy to make a Spark. Exact Gap!

I use store bought "husqvarna brand" fuel for it and my chainsaw. Its non ethonal and pre mixed.

Exhaust is fine. It isnt a heat issue because the starting issues happen cold. Engine isnt siezed at all. Pull string is free as it should be.

Just put in new spark plug gonna go through the ignotion next. I hate small ingines. Theyre more a pain in thr ass than a car

If you've got good eyes or an inspection camera check the walls of the cylinder for scoring.

If you don't own an inspection camera, I cannot recommend this one enough. It's tactical applications are so immediately obvious upon first use, I've bought two more for my kit. One on my building entry module on PC and the second in my pack. You can literally watch your own 6.

Found it. I first thought it was acting as though it wasnt getting fuel. I inspected everything and couldnt find a reason. So i had a new carberator here and swaped it out. Still had the same issue.

So i just pulled the fuel line out of the tank. It has a tiny split, right at the top before it comes out of the tank. Runs like a champ now.

Should habe spent more time looking it over before i went deeper

Its what i get for rushing

Try Sea foam in the oil as directed. If you have stuck rings, it'll clean it up. Then, if that don't do it, try an additive. Some good old gooey STP or Lucas will raise oil pressure in a car motor pretty significantly, so maybe it may help. I think really it just makes thicker. I heard years ago Restore worked a little. It might do what you want.

The golf cart was a 95 club car. I bought it cheap but it wasn't running. I got it to give to the FIL for his 90th. He owns land along a large creek / small river but rarely get back there any more. ( The shak' in the other thread is 20ft from the creek bank. )

I pulled the motor and pulled the carb and head. I pulled the valves and use dental picks and green pads to scrub all the crusties off of them. New valve seals and adjusted the valve clearance. Pulled the carb apart and cleaned it. It was running OK but was still blowing blue smoke. Thats when I asked you all about additive. I ended up putting Rislone ring seal in it. I didn't have time to do a Seafoam cleaning ( plus I manually cleaned the valve / head anyways ) so just went with the Rislone. It was the only additive I could find locally. It seemed to help. Didn't clear up the blue smoke but reduced it to some extent. It runs just about as well as a 90yr old runs, so I'll call it a win. lol
