Mel's Grev, Don's, Harbenger, and tide, Tide your probably going to get wet again, they saying if it keeps track, SC Thursday morning. who the hell knows. waiting on to see what SC governor says and panics people. Mels, think the panhandle is already under a state of emergency. according to scott, if it comes ashore at panama city surge will hit tampa as well. could come ashore as a cat 1, so prepare accordingly. you already wet, you might wanna head for high ground.....

Thanks Goblin. I've been whining about the storm today down in the Tavern section. This was an absolutely beautiful day here today, it'll probably get breezy tomorrow evening. But I'm getting my ducks in a row. This one is likely to be a rainmaker for me, but I'm high... or as high as you can legally get in the state of Florida since sea level is our thang down here. :)

Son is just fine and out of the area of concern for this one. I'm watching for turns but this one is likely to do little adjustments in direction, not any major turns, based on the gulf temperature right now. It's forming kind of a trough to pull the storm straight north until it starts interacting with the air coming off the land. Then it'll wobble a little bit most likely.

^^That's my prediction and it and $2.50 will get you a pretty good cup of coffee. :p

Most folks never look up from their smartphones long enough to even avoid getting
killed in traffic, let alone thinking ahead in terms of emergencies or natural disasters.
We look at it differently because we try to be ready for things coming at us, and
weather should be the first on the list because we have absolutely no control over
it, except getting out of it's way.
A large segment of the population today is just trying to make ends meet and deal
with their lives.. some think it won't be as bad as the fearmongers say, others will
wait for help from the government agencies. I think it never hurts to have a plan
even if the scary weather doesn't pan out, and I don't whine and bitch about the
weather wizards getting it wrong. Take the info with a grain of salt, and always
trust your gut.

Sentinel,

Agree 100 %

One thing I will add, is there is no cure for stupid.

Back in one of the Storms. Perhaps it was Sandy. Some chick in Hartford, Ct. Who lived in a apartment left her windows open. Place got flooded. She ended up with new carper, new food, and a whole buch of other "New" that was funded by the taxpayers.

She even got money for storm damage. Because she was too dumb or too stoned to close her windows.

The funny part is. That as I was searching for that article I stumbled upon this one.

Which just reinforces my theory on stupidity.

She lit a Blockbuster or M80 thinking it was a candle? Who does that?
Of course in proper fashion. They blamed it on the previous owners of the house.

The increasing lack of common sense or any sense of good judgement is one of the biggest challenges we face.

Just thought of this post. I got an email a few minutes ago from my insurance company with some hurricane preparation reminders. First one on the list? "Close all windows in your home and your vehicles." Sigh... scary to think people have to be told to close the windows on their vehicle and house because there's a hurricane coming. One would think that would be pretty basic operating information kind of stuff.
