In the last week, we have had visits from Ms Bear, Mr PieBald (7 points!), multiple waskally wabbits, and a Dryland Beaver! Gettin to be that time of Year, ain't it?
Here's a pair of bucks from cuz's cam about 800ish yards north of my cam. Those are volunteer beans that grew up from his bean plot he left standing last year. They weren't worth a damn standing.
fkn Nikki Haley screwed our season up before she trotted off to the lights of DC. WITH all the date changes its harder to pull a velvet top here anymore........
Any of you guys heard much about the 360 buck hammer. It's a Remington round. The ballistics are better than the 350 legend. And arguably better than the 460 bush master. Shoots flatter. I would like a lever action to hunt with. Henry makes one for all three. However the 350 and the 460 are single shot only 🙄. Just wondering if the newer 360 is gonna gain some popularity. I may buy one
Yeah I've heard a lot about it and studied on it a bit. For deer, it's a better round than the 350 Legend IMO due to heavier available loadings in .358" groove diameter but don't get caught up in the blue sky bs about how it (or anything else) is best or some long range miracle. The .358" 200 gr bullet will definitely run with the .451" 250 gr bullet for penetration and terminal performance. It's a notch better than the best 165 gr to 180 gr in the 350.
.358" caliber "mid range" cartridges have a good following for deer and bear. Definitely a winner for the straight wall states and those who prefer lever guns. If I get flush with cash before gun season I'll grab a barrel for my Encore.
Yep I agree wirh ya @steadfast . I'm not getting caught up in any of it. I've just always wanted a lever action Hunting rifle. But I hunt in a straight wall county. So I like this option. I have two 350 legends. The round does fine. But its not a lever.
I have been a big fan of the old Remington Core-Lokt bullets. Its just tried and true. That's what they are running in the 360. I am also interested in a Henry Lever is in 360.
Do You Reload? Ya Can "Load Them Down", And, They can Use Black Powder (You can Make)., Bullets You can Cast. Can Load a Half-Way Decent Shotshell. And Shooting a "Death Ray" gun will never teach about estimating Range and Hold Over.
Don't Know if they still do, but Ya Could get a Rossi (or Puma?) Lever Action in .357 Mag, Practice with Poopy .38 SPL. Good out to 150 fo Sho, maybe 200 with Good Skill
