i plan on getting an enclosed trailer and converting it to a camper. We were looing at a 6x10 or 12 as they offer lots of room and we could build a mini cabin. Our budget for the total project was $3000 and some of those trailers start at $2000. Now we are looking at getting a 4x8 and making a little tear drop, it wont have the head room o amenities id like but with a total cost under $2000 i can give some stuff up. the front V of the trailer will have cabinets and a little "sink" gravity pump with simple grey water run off. Since i have 48" width to work with a full size bed is too big but a twin is too small so im gonna geta three quarters RV mattress and put that on a raised platform for storage underneath. ath the end of the bed im gonna have a sound dampening (and hopefully smell) curtain with a small composting toilet behind it for potty needs in the middle of the night.
As far as electricity im probably gonna have two 100 watt solar panels and a couple batteries. I would only need to power some lights, a fan and vent, maybe a tv for a few hours and a couple outlets for charging radios, camera, phone, laptop. There are plans for an AC in the future for use with shore power
The one thing i havent worked out is where the galley will be. the bigger Trailers gave me the option to have a small kitchen so ill have to get creative with this. I thought about having a tbale mounted on the exterior that folds down and i just put my stove on it but that limits me to only cooking in nice weather.
I still have all the details to work out but I think it will work.
This wont be an offroad trailer like i wish i had but it gives me and the lady a place to stay when we travel this great country. It could also serve as a temporary home during an emergency
