Went out to the Summer kitchen to make up a batch of bee syrup.
I always keep feeders on the hives even when tbere's plenty of nectar flowing.
Any way, got all the stuff heating up on the stove and went to check on something else.
One thing led to another, I saw something shiny and next thing I know, I finishing watering the garden.
When I started back towards the house, I could see the smoke rolling out of the barn.
The pot of bee syrup had boiled over and started a fire on top of the stove.
I grabbed the fire extinguisher out of the shop and put the fire out, the wrapped the burned up pot and got it out of the building.
The stove is burned up, the cabinet and counter tops are damaged, everything is covered in smoke and fire extinguisher powder and tomorrow I get to deal with the insurance adjuster! Yay!
It seems that multi-tasking is not one of my strong points.

Stay focused, stay safe!
And keep a bottle of Buffalo Trace around for decompression purposes when something stupid happens.

Got the joint back in operation.
Still have a small area of sheetrock to finish and paint and some cabinets to touch up, but we're back to it.
The stove that we thought was destroyed was just covered in melted sugar.
There was no damage to the stove itself and it cleaned up better than expected.

I missed your first post, but I am happy to hear things are better than the initial assessment! We all do stuff from time to time like that.

When I worked in the ER, about 75% of the injuries (of those that did not involve alcohol in some manner, which is about >75% of the total we saw), folks would say "I KNEW I should have worn gloves." Or "I know better than to crawl under there without using jack stands, but it was gonna be just for a second." Or "I knew better than to hold it while cutting it. I knew I should have used the vise."

Anyway, my point is we all do stuff like that every once in a while. Glad it wasn't worse!
