I talked with several business owners today about the employment problems. These are small businesses. They are trying to get their laid off people back buddy they won’t come. From what I understand once you offer their job back and they refuse their unemployment stops.
It seems people are collecting regardless. Some are collecting if their hours are cut.
I’m starting to wonder if the government is initiating backdoor socialism using Covid as an excuse. Just pay the people to stay home.

Damn skippy that's what they're doing... All part of the plan.

There is (or will be) an immigration component to it, too. Remember, over the past year, we've heard about how illegal aliens undocumented workers were essential to keeping food production running during the pandemic. And also remember that rocket surgeon extraordinaire AOC wanted the "Green New Deal" to provide for people who could work but choose not to. So, we get low-wage workers via unfettered immigration, while the Americans who prefer to sit on their asses can do so . . . right up until Uncle Sam (or Uncle Joe) says it's time to (re)join the labor force in an essential job of the government's choosing.

Cases are going back up quickly in Ohio ... Must be that 4th wave they were talking about ...
See if you can find a breakdown of the new diagnoses by age. Most of the new cases here are in the under 40 group, the much less at risk group... Our case numbers haven't really increased here, but the hospitalizations and deaths by day/week have really declined.

Heard on the radio today while I was sitting in tourist traffic to get home (Thank you tourists! You're feeding our families!) The best way to listen to anything Dr. Fauci has to say... with the volume turned all the way down.

Florida is filing suit against the US Government and the CDC tomorrow over cruise ships still being shut down. The CDC is the one who has them still shut down and an unelected agency with zero business sense or experience is destroying an industry and tens of thousands of direct jobs before you ever get to the second tier employment and income lost by keeping them shut down. CDC can't control cruise lines any more than it was their decision on opening schools, theme parks or churches. It's not that cruise ships haven't figured out how to be safe, it is just in the U.S. ports, they are all scary. All the cruises that used to leave from Florida (which is over 75% of the cruises in the U.S. are now docking in the Bahamas and a couple of other islands. CDC is full of horse manure, not a big surprise to anyone.
