Converting a Combination Wrench into a Spoon Gouge

My only comment would be the wrench losing it's temper.. I would think
if you started with a forged wrench, and heat treated it just before final
sharpening.. any thoughts on the method of heat treat?

O1,S1,D2 and several other tool steels are pretty easy to oil quench in an average home shop. I suppose it's similar to knife making, but i've retempered many specialty tools that originally started as wrenches. Now that they sell small pieces on Amazon I really don't do this anymore but for something like this gouge, a wrench is the easy way to start, most of the work is done.
