Today is June first.
The last 3 days have been in the upper 80ºF range with higher than normal humidity.
I make no bones about the fact that I hate summer.
Hot, Muggy, Bugs, Ticks, all of it. I love the fall, hate the summer.
For the last week or so, I have been pondering ways to make summer more tolerable.
Cooler clothes, maybe an air conditioner in the bed room, more beer, less hard work, anything to ease my suffering.
Yesterday, I did a 180º about face. I thought, since I'm going to be hot and miserable anyway.
I decided why not embrace the suck?
So I started today,
Set the alarm for 05:00 got up, got dressed and hit the trail. No marathon, or decathlon,
Just a two mile hike to ease into this.
Never been a big fan of actual diets or dieting. \
More of a just eat a little less everything, while burning a few more calories.
A Rough Plan;
Get up at 05:00 for 60 days.
Walk at least 5 days a week (maybe 6)
Increase intake of water.
Reduce consumption of beer. (A hard one for me when it's hot)
Eat healthier,
Eat smaller portions.
Not earth shattering by any means. I decided to call this an initiative instead of a challenge.
Mostly because I hate the word challenge.
I don't want to challenge anyone.
I just want to be in better shape in 60 days than I am today.
If that idea appeals to anyone follow along, join in, set your alarm.
The best part about getting up and getting out early is;
by 06:30 the frog was already eaten.
I don't have to think about exercising for the rest of the day. It's already behind me. Done!
Part of my inspiration and motivation process for this came from Jocko Willink's book,
Discipline Equals Freedom - Field Manual
First Week's Goal - Just to still be doing it next week.
No surrender
