2024 Garden plans

Dunno about y'all, but I've received all my seed catalogs and am seriously considering some low tunnels, to plant early this year. I'm kinda worried about volcanic activity and our weather this year... and I need to extend the growing season a bit.

Going to be adding to the herb garden some more. So, I'm going to have to build beds & get topsoil/compost again. Thought about fruit trees, but I think I'll do berries instead. Our county has a lot of orchards and they've got mature trees and the experience to manage the harvest. Might plant some popcorn, too.

Hol is still struggling to get her greenhouse built. I don't think I want one, but... my plan for a summer kitchen has kinda evolved into possibly a sunroom kinda design. Could heat it with wood...

We're in an Expansionist Mode WRT the Garden this Year as well.

Got some Partitioned Grow Bag/Planters - eight divisions, in a 3-Foot by 2 - Foot Footprint, black Plastic Tarp kinda material - Think those will work well for Herbs. At end of Summer, we bought up aabout Twenty 50 Pound Bags of Potting Soil and had a few left over from before, so We are ready to start laying Out where everything is gonna go this Year.

Next week (or so) will be refurbing and Prepping all the AeroGardens for Planting. Have nearly all the seed We need, unless, that is, Some seed catalog or other catches Our Eyes...

This Year, SWMBO has Ordered some shelves be made to extend between each Deck Support Vertical. This should nearly Double the Growing Area that is Not inside the ScreenRoom or the Greenhouse.

We are of a Mind to grow at Maximum Effort this Spring/Summer/Fall.

Old raised beds got gone but didn't get to new ones.

Hopefully, this will be the last year of "small & manageable". Next year I will have more time = bigger garden.

We got rid of all our beds. The wood was rotting really bad and we haven't been getting much food the last couple of years. We're not giving up on it, but don't have a plan yet. We're going to cut back and focus more time on getting better yields in less space. We're also thinking about just doing containers/whiskey barrels.

We’ll have our normal 20x100 garden this year. End of last summer, we added 3 raised beds 4x12x2, think we’re going to use them for potatoes. Likely going to add another 3 this spring.

Erected the 8x16 greenhouse 1.5 years ago, still haven’t gotten to laying the brick i want to use build the raised beds bases I want, hoping to do it this spring. Have had the brick, just need to build.

The temperature difference between inside and out is incredible. Maybe I’ll do a thread on it this spring when I finally get to start finishing the inside, if there’s interest.
