Tomato seeds usually tell you how long till maturity on the package.

I didn't grow then from seeds..but sounds like this amount of time for them to ripen isn't out of the ordinary?

Actually my tomato plants I got from him. They were two extras he didn't have too for. I didn't get them in the ground as early as him though.

I still suck at gardening

Mine won't be ripe till the end of August. Tis the way up here. Can't safely put them in the ground until after Memorial Day.

Matt - too hot will slow down ripening also along with too much nitrogen. Did you use "raw" chicken shit by chance?

When I first moved into my place 30+ years ago, I planted a garden next to the barn. The old owner raised and hunted pheasants. I planted the garden right over the old pheasant pen. Boy did I get giant tomato plants and lots of green tomatoes. lol They never did ripen on the vine.

I just bought bulk topsoil too fill the raised bed. I added my own compost I had been accumulating/making, But no chicken shit or any shit unless it was already in the top soil.

You see, I have a GreenHouse, and I start things around the Second week of January. This Year, the Outside (Waist-High Planters on Our Deck, and The Raised Plot in the Screen Room had to Wait till May or June (I forget). We did start the plants for Those areas inside in the Hydrogardens, after We Transplanted the Tomatoes and such out of the Hydrogardens

I didn't start planting until May. I got lucky this year and June was cool. I think I'ma havin' a bumper crop of maters, if nothing else. Eventually - most are still green.

The tomatoes are finally turning. The peppers I was waiting on basically rotted on the plant

Carrots look about ready to harvest, although far fewer than I started with. I can blame some of that on critters, and some on a transplant attempt that didn't take.

Meanwhile, potatoes should be almost ready, too. 100% container-grown this year, and the reds I checked on recently were looking good.

Butter lettuce didn't turn out as nice as last year. Sort of bitter, which I don't recall being an issue in the past. The kids would devour it previously, but complained that it "tastes bad" this year, and they weren't exaggerating. Not sure what to think, as I really didn't change anything.
