I've got a curiosity about your fig planting, and those seeds. Most of the fruit trees I've had any dealings with were grafts to a root stock that was hardier than the seed stock. Have you got a notion if your figs are products of that kind of arbor work?

They will have shoots near the base, and just pull a few carefully. Plant in a new spot and go. Around here, hard to fail. They do tend to like being near something. Like next to an outbuilding, garage, the house, whatever. Don't stick 'em out in a wide open space. I have no experience with seed, so I probably didn't help you! :)

This may not be helpful either, but there are a number of heirloom fig varieties that aren't grafts onto rootstock. They aren't the "popular" varieties but they are great figs. I'm growing Black Mission Figs, been around a long time and usually propagated from a slip but can be raised from seed. You just have to plant several because missions are definitely male and female.

I do believe that some form of fig tree will emerge and hopefully bear fruit, but
I honestly don't care if the results include a mutt plant and not a true blood.
I only care that they are yummy!
